Dear PATU MNA Presidents, Council Members and Friends,

Welcome to the official website of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, where visitors and members will be able to receive updated information on PATU events, seminars, championships, WTF events, and helpful advice to athletes, trainers, coaches, instructors, and parents.

The Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) is one of five continental Taekwondo organizations within The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) which include Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania Taekwondo Union. PATU encompasses the entire western hemisphere all the way up from the North Pole to the Southern tips of South America.  With a total of 42 member nations and 2 provisional member nations the Pan American Taekwondo Union is responsible for all international events and matters related to the sport of Taekwondo in the Pan Am Region. PATU functions solely to provide members with all the resources they need to enable the member schools and clubs to train athletes to the best of their ability in both mind and body.

Internationally, PATU promotes, coordinates and oversees various activities of WTF and PATU in the Pan Am Region, including the Summer Olympic Games.  Nationally and regionally, PATU promotes Taekwondo development in the region, organizes seminars, lectures, championships and tournaments, administers WTF/Kukkiwon black belt rank and manages international referee certification programs.  PATU also works to update our members with any and all new development of Taekwondo equipment and its regulations.  PATU strives to support all aspects of Taekwondo to its purveyors as well as provide a wealth of information to help the students of taekwondo attain the maximum benefit of taekwondo training.

As the newly elected president of the PATU, I would like to invite you all to explore our new website and learn more about the largest continental union of the World Taekwondo Federation, and on behalf of the PATU and its council members, I would like to invite everyone to partake in the improvement of our website by providing news, announcements and general information to enrich the contents of the website for the millions of members in the Pan Am Region.  We must all work together to fully appreciate this great Olympic Martial Art Sport of Taekwondo.  Enjoy our website and visit often to update yourself with valuable information on the ever developing sports of Taekwondo.

Sincerely,

Master Ji Ho Choi

President, PATU
